Chairman Preface
Globalization brings about an inescapable speed in the development of knowledge and technology as well as commodities and international human resources. This fact presents every institution, including Islamic higher education institution, challenges of unprecedented complexity. Those challenges could not be anticipated by individual institution; instead they have to be faced through close cooperation among educational institutions of the region.
It is against this background that the Southeast Asian Forum for Islamic Higher Education becomes a necessity. Through this forum Islamic institutions of higher education entertain joint-efforts in developing knowledge and technologies for the betterment of humanity. Among others, this forum could foster joint-efforts on the following:
1. Modernization of education institution managements.
2. Developing knowledge and technologies based on Islamic principles.
3. Joint-research and joint-publications.
4. Entertaining some new ideas on future development of civilization.
I am very hopeful that this forum could contribute in the process of making this region a better place for future Islamic civilization.
